My name is Nick Jordan, and I’m the founder of Travel Stand Desk, the #1 portable stand desk for travelers.
My fascination with building and working from premium workstations started in 2013, after reading an article about the CEO Of Zillow, Spencer Rascoff’s treadmill desk.
I was enamored by the idea of a treadmill desk because it meant I didn’t have to sacrifice my health to grind anymore.
Unfortunately I couldn’t afford it.
Four years and a new job later, I had finally made it happen. I averaged close to 3 miles a day with bursts up to 10 miles per day, and lost over 30 pounds over the next two years.
In early 2019 decided to travel. So I quit my job, moved out of my apartment and headed to Asia for a consulting opportunity working with a US tech company based in Thailand.
And overnight I went from one of the greatest workstations of all time, to sitting $2 chairs.
Every AirBNB was the same. I was constantly uncomfortable, my productivity suffered and my back hurt.
After returning from Asia I decided I was never going to spend 8 hours a day working in a $2 chair again, and began searching for a portable standing desk.
My search had 3 basic requirements:
- Light enough to travel with.
- Fit in my luggage.
- Different levels for my keyboard and monitor to keep my neck pain free.
I spent over a month looking for, buying, and testing different products. Not a single one was built for travelers.
As someone who has spent the last decade solving problems in early stage companies, is overly obsessed with the perfect workstation, and committed to traveling and working remotely for the next several years, I decided to build the portable travel standing desk I wanted.
And Travel Stand Desk was born.
Travel Stand Desk weighs about the same as two pairs of shoes, or 4lbs / 1.8kg, is small enough to fit in your carry-on suitcase, and robust enough to support dual external monitors.
Our team is 100% remote, we manufacture and ship desks from the US and Europe, and everyday we work from the product we build.
